Shipping & Delivery

How much is delivery?

Delivery is a flat rate of £3.99 or FREE for orders over £50.

How long does delivery take?

Orders are dispatched within 1–3 working days unless your order contains a personalised item, in which case please allow up to 5 working days. All orders are sent via Royal Mail Tracked 48, with a tracking number and a delivery aim of 2–3 days.

I need my order for a specific date - can you help? Please contact us at info@bookmarkandco.co.uk and let us know what you need and when you need it by and we’ll do our very best to help.

 

Can I track my order?

You’ll receive an email when your order has been dispatched. Many parcels include tracking; where tracking is available, your dispatch email will include a link or tracking number so you can follow your parcel’s progress.

Returns & Refunds

What is your return policy?

We want you to be happy with your order. If you change your mind, you can return unused, non‑personalised items in their original condition and packaging within 30 days of delivery for a refund. Just contact us at info@bookmarkandco.co.uk within 14 days of receiving the order to notify us that you intend to return it.

Because personalised pieces (such as custom bookmarks, keyrings or gift boxes made to your specification) are created just for you, we can usually only accept returns on personalised items if they arrive faulty or damaged. This does not affect your statutory rights.

 

How do I return an item?

If you'd like to return an item, please contact us first with your order number and details of the item you'd like to send back.

Unless your item is faulty or we've made a mistake with your order, return postage costs are your responsibility. We recommend using a tracked or signed‑for service and keeping your proof of postage until your refund is processed.

When will I receive my refund?

Once your return reaches us, we’ll check it and process your refund as quickly as possible – usually within 3–5 working days. Refunds are issued to the original payment method.

Your bank or payment provider may then take a further 3–7 working days to show the funds back in your account.

Do you offer exchanges?

We don’t currently have an automated exchange system. The easiest way to exchange an item is to return it for a refund (if it’s eligible under our returns policy) and then place a new order for the piece you’d prefer.

If your item has arrived damaged or we’ve made a mistake, please contact us and we’ll put things right with a replacement or refund.

What are your business hours?

You can place orders on the website 24/7.

We usually respond to emails and messages Monday to Friday, 10am–4pm (UK time). During busy seasons, it may take us a little longer to reply, but we'll always get back to you as soon as possible.

 

Where are you located?

Bookmark & Co is a small, UK‑based business. Our studio is in Northamptonshire and all orders are prepared and shipped from here. We currently operate online only.

Are your products handmade?

Many of our literary gifts, such as our personalised bookmarks, keyrings and candles are handmade by us right here in our UK studio, but we also carefully curate a selection of complementary pieces from trusted makers and suppliers who share our values on quality and craftsmanship.

Are your products gift‑wrapped?

We know many orders are gifts, so we make the unboxing feel special. Most items come wrapped in tissue or paper and presented in gift‑ready packaging. Our curated gift boxes are beautifully packed — ready to give the moment they arrive, or perfect to send directly to a recipient.

Do you use eco‑friendly or sustainable materials?

We're committed to making thoughtful choices. We favour paper‑based and recyclable packaging wherever we can and avoid unnecessary plastic. Our candles use coconut soy wax, and we're continually looking for ways to improve the sustainability of our materials and packaging.

Gift Boxes & Collections

What's included in your gift boxes?

Each gift box description lists exactly what's inside, but in general you can expect a mix of bookish treats such as personalised bookmarks, literary candles, cosy accessories and carefully chosen extras to make a reading session feel special.

From time to time we may need to swap a specific item for a close alternative, but if we do, it will always be of equal or higher value and in keeping with the theme of your box.

Can I create a custom gift box?

Yes – we love helping you build something just right. You can either:
Start with one of our existing boxes and add extra items, or
Contact us with your budget, occasion and recipient details, and we'll suggest a custom combination of products.

For larger or corporate orders, please get in touch and we can discuss options tailored to your needs.

Are your products suitable as gifts for book lovers?

Absolutely. Bookmark and Co is all about thoughtful gifts for readers – from personalised leather bookmarks and literary candles to curated boxes of cosy reading treats. Whether you're shopping for a birthday, Christmas, a thank you gift or a quiet treat for yourself, our products are designed with book lovers in mind.

Do you offer gift messages or cards?

Yes. You can add a gift message with select items. We'll include it with your order, either handwritten or printed on a card, and we'll leave out any pricing so it's ready to send directly to the recipient.

Orders & Payment

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major debit and credit cards and other secure payment methods shown at checkout. All payments are processed safely through our trusted payment partners.

Is my payment information secure?

Yes. We use reputable, PCI‑compliant payment providers to process your payments securely. Our website uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and we never see or store your full card details.

Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?

If you need to change or cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible with your order number. If we haven’t started making your personalised item or dispatched your parcel, we’ll do our best to help.

Once work has begun on a personalised piece, or once your order has been shipped, we may not be able to make changes, but we’ll always explain your options.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes! Sometimes choosing the perfect gift can be tricky, so we offer eGift cards that the recipient can use to choose something they'll truly love. eGift cards are redeemable across our full range and available in different amounts to suit different budgets.

Quality & Care

How do I care for my handmade bookmark/candle/keyring?

Care instructions vary slightly by product, but as a general guide:

  • Leather bookmarks: store flat, avoid getting them wet, and keep away from direct heat for long periods.
  • Candles: always burn on a heat‑resistant surface, keep away from draughts and out of reach of children and pets, and trim the wick to 5mm before each burn. For the initial burn of a new candle ensure the wax pool fully covers the top of the candle, this prevents tunnelling. Subsequent burns should be 1—2 hours and never longer than 4 hours. To prevent the candle jar from overheating and cracking always stop burning when approximately 1cm of wax remains at the bottom.
  • Keyrings and charms: avoid prolonged contact with water, perfumes and lotions. If any tarnishing appears this can easily be removed with a dry anti-tarnish polishing cloth.

Many products include specific care notes on the product page or on a card in your parcel – please read and follow these for the best results.

Are your candles made from natural wax?

Yes. Our wax melts are made from natural soy wax and our literary candles are made from natural coconut soy wax. Our waxes contain no harmful additives and are suitable for vegans.We never use paraffin in any of our Bookmark & Co candles or wax melts. We only use high quality fragrance oils that are free of parabens, cruelty-free and vegan friendly. We only make candles and wax melts that we are happy to burn in our own homes.

How long do your candles burn?

Each candle product page includes an approximate burn time so you know what to expect but a typical burn time for a 220g candle is 40—60 hours. The more closely you follow the care guidelines the longer you can expect to enjoy your candle.

Who is Bookmark & Co?

Bookmark & Co is all about thoughtful, literary‑inspired gifts. We bring together personalised leather bookmarks, hand-poured candles, and curated bookish treats to create gifts that readers love to receive.
We're a small UK business, and many of our pieces are made by hand in our studio. Every parcel is packed with care — because unboxing your order should feel like opening a gift.

Can I visit your workshop or attend pop‑up events?

Our studio isn't open to the public, but we may occasionally appear at markets or pop‑up events. When we do, we'll share dates and locations on our website or social media so you can come and say hello.

Can I follow you on socials?

Do you wholesale to bookshops or gift shops?
